Bay View
Ripples on the water
A breeze blows gently
A bright orange ball sinks low in the summer sky.
A child laughs in the next yard as she plays with her puppy.
Sitting on the old wood swing, I listen to these sounds of a small bayside community.
The conservatory bells chime nine o'clock
And the streetlights start to brighten.
It's beyond dusk and the "queen's necklace" grows luminous across the bay.
Parents call their children in from their frolicking
As wood smoke sifts through the old pine trees.
Guests at the hotel are awed by the simplistic view of the bay at sunset.
I return to The Cedars to sit and enjoy this quiet view from the faded yellow porch chairs.
It's almost a step back in time...
